Overview
Aluminium stearate gels oils and thickens non-aqueous systems, so it is used in greases, paints and inks to prevent pigment settling, and in cosmetics to thicken oils.
It also waterproofs textiles, leather and building materials. It is a white powder supplied in mono-, di- and tristearate grades.
