Overview
Aqueous ammonia gives the alkalinity of ammonia without the pressure vessels that anhydrous ammonia needs. In hydrometallurgy it leaches and complexes copper, nickel and cobalt, and it is used to precipitate and purify metal salts.
It is also a convenient pH adjuster in water and process circuits, a NOx-reduction reagent, and a raw material for cleaners and fertilisers. It is supplied at 20–25% NH₃.
