Overview

Dehydration converts castor oil's ricinoleic acid into conjugated fatty acids, turning a non-drying oil into a fast-drying one similar to tung oil. Alkyds made with DCO dry quickly and yellow less than linseed-based resins.

It is supplied in several viscosities, including heat-bodied grades for varnishes.
