Overview
Piroctone olamine controls the yeasts linked to dandruff and is effective at low levels (0.1–1%). It is soluble enough to give clear shampoos and is widely used as an alternative to zinc pyrithione.
It also boosts preservative systems in cosmetics and is supplied as a white to pale yellow powder.
