Overview
Talc's flat, plate-like particles improve paint film strength, sag resistance and matting, stiffen plastics such as polypropylene, and give cosmetics and powders their smooth feel. In tablets it acts as a glidant and lubricant.
Grades differ in whiteness, particle size and purity. Cosmetic and pharmaceutical grades are tested for asbestos absence and microbiological quality.
