Overview

In mining, lime keeps cyanide leach circuits alkaline so that toxic hydrogen cyanide is not released, and it depresses pyrite in flotation. In water treatment it softens water, adjusts pH and precipitates metals and phosphate.

Quicklime is reactive and is slaked on site; hydrated lime is a fine powder ready to dose. Available calcium oxide or hydroxide content is the key specification.

Questions

Lime, answered.

Quicklime is cheaper per unit of calcium but must be slaked; hydrated lime is ready to dose.

It keeps pH high so cyanide stays in solution instead of forming toxic HCN gas.

It reacts with water, generating heat, and is corrosive to skin and eyes.

Yes. Cosmo Chemistry manufactures and exports Lime from Surat, Gujarat, India to more than 55 countries, for customers in the mining & oil drilling industry. Send your grade, quantity and destination port for a quotation within one business day.
