Overview
In skin care niacinamide supports the skin barrier, evens tone and helps with pores and oil control, at 2–10%. It is stable, water-soluble and well tolerated.
It is also used as a vitamin in food fortification, supplements and animal feed. Supplied as a white powder in cosmetic, pharmaceutical and feed grades.

- Colorless crystals or a white, crystalline powder. Freely soluble in water and in ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform and ether.
- Identification by IR
- IR absorption spectrum of the sample should be concordant with the spectrum obtained with Niacinamide working standard.
- Appearance of Solution (5% in aq. solution)
- Solution should be clear and not more intensely colored than reference solution BY7.
