Overview
Pine oil is rich in alpha-terpineol, which gives it a fresh pine odour, good solvency and mild germicidal power. It is the base of classic pine disinfectants and floor cleaners.
In paints and textiles it acts as a solvent and wetting agent; in mining it is a frother in flotation. Grades are defined by terpineol content.
