Overview
Polyacrylamide works by bridging: its very long polymer chains — often 10 to 20 million in molecular weight — adsorb onto many small particles at once and pull them into large, strong flocs that settle or dewater quickly. It is normally used after a coagulant such as PAC or ferric chloride, at doses measured in parts per million.
The ionic charge is what has to be matched to the job. Cationic grades bind negatively charged organic solids and dominate sewage sludge dewatering. Anionic grades suit mineral slurries, tailings thickeners and clarification of inorganic suspensions. Non-ionic grades work in acidic conditions and in some potable water applications. Charge density and molecular weight are then tuned within each type.
Applications

Packing & storage
Packing
- 25 kg multi-wall paper/PE bags
- 750–1000 kg jumbo bags
Storage & handling
Keep dry and sealed — moisture causes lumps. Spilled powder becomes extremely slippery when wet, so clean up dry. Prepared solutions should be used within one to two days.

Questions
Polyacrylamide, answered.
Cationic polyacrylamide is used for organic sludges, especially sewage sludge dewatering. Anionic polyacrylamide is used for mineral and inorganic suspensions such as tailings, coal washing and clarifiers. Non-ionic grades suit acidic conditions. A jar or beaker test on your own sludge or slurry identifies the right charge density.
Sprinkle the powder slowly into the vortex of well-stirred water to make a 0.1–0.5% stock solution, then let it mature for 30–60 minutes before use. Adding powder too fast creates 'fish eyes' — undissolved gel lumps that waste polymer and block dosing lines.
The polymer itself is inert, and the limiting factor is residual acrylamide monomer. Grades for potable water are produced with very low residual monomer and are dosed within the limits set by the local drinking water regulation.
Yes. Cosmo Chemistry manufactures and exports Polyacrylamide from Surat, Gujarat, India to more than 55 countries, for customers in the water treatment and mining & oil drilling industries. Send your grade, quantity and destination port for a quotation within one business day.
Every shipment of Polyacrylamide from Cosmo Chemistry includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Certificate of Origin, third-party pre-shipment inspection and destination-specific regulatory documentation are arranged on request.
