Overview
Polysorbates are ethoxylated sorbitan esters. Polysorbate 20 solubilises fragrances and oils in clear products; polysorbate 60 and 80 emulsify creams, foods and medicines.
They are paired with sorbitan esters (Span) to tune the emulsifier balance (HLB). Food and pharmacopoeia grades are available.
