Urea

Urea (46% N) is the most concentrated solid nitrogen fertiliser, supplied prilled and granular for direct application and blending.

Prilled & granular, 46% N
01

Overview

Urea is made by reacting ammonia with carbon dioxide and contains 46% nitrogen — more than any other solid fertiliser — which keeps freight and application costs per unit of nitrogen low. In soil it is converted to ammonium and then nitrate, feeding crop growth.

Prilled urea has small, round particles and dissolves quickly, suiting top-dressing and solution fertilisers. Granular urea has larger, harder particles that blend evenly with other granular fertilisers in NPK blends and spread further. Technical grades are used to make urea-formaldehyde resins; specialised high-purity grades are used for diesel exhaust fluid.

Applications

  • 1Nitrogen fertiliser for cereals, rice, maize and sugarcane
  • 2Top-dressing and foliar feeding
  • 3Bulk blending in NPK fertilisers (granular)
  • 4Urea-formaldehyde and melamine resins (technical grade)
  • 5Non-protein nitrogen in ruminant feed (feed grade)

Packing & storage

Packing

  • 50 kg PP bags with PE liner
  • 1000–1250 kg jumbo bags
  • Bulk

Storage & handling

Store dry and covered — urea is hygroscopic and cakes in humid conditions. Fertiliser availability depends on origin and on export rules that can change by season. Origin, availability and lead time are confirmed with every quotation.

Questions

Urea, answered.

Prilled urea has smaller, softer particles that dissolve quickly and suit top-dressing and solutions. Granular urea has larger, harder particles that resist breakage, spread further and blend evenly in NPK bulk blends.

Biuret forms during urea manufacture and can damage sensitive crops, especially in foliar sprays. Fertiliser-grade urea is typically limited to 1.0% biuret or less, with low-biuret grades for foliar use.

Fertiliser availability depends on origin and on export rules that can change by season. Origin, availability and lead time are confirmed with every quotation.
