Water Decolourant
Water decolourant is a cationic polymer used to remove colour from textile, dye and pigment wastewater, often together with PAC or alum.
- Grades / forms
- ≥ 50% solids
Overview
Dye-house effluent carries soluble dyes that ordinary coagulation does not remove. Decolourant polymers — typically dicyandiamide–formaldehyde resins — neutralise the dye molecules' charge and pull them into a floc that settles or floats out.
It is dosed as a liquid, usually ahead of a coagulant such as PAC and a polyacrylamide flocculant. Dose rates are set by jar test on the actual effluent.
